Historical Background
Amharic Language served as the official language traced back to the reign of Tewodros II. Since then, Amharic became the official language of Ethiopia. It has got its own alphabets. That makes unique from other languages spoken in Africa. It has also been given as a subject all over Ethiopia.
Objectives of the Department
-Assisting students to exercise the four language skills regarding on Amharic language.
- Facilitating and evaluating the teaching learning process
- Helping students to develop their knowledge of creative writing through co-curricular activities.
Structure of the Department
The department is divided in to two sections
1. At Elementary level fro 1st – 8th Grades
2. At High school level from 9th – 12th Grades.
Each section has its own Department head.
